Connect the classroom (CTC) is a government-funded programme designed to improve internet speed in schools. This is done by upgrading Wi-Fi access points and network switches. Over 3000 school’s networks have been updated with over 700,000 students benefiting from the upgrade.

To be eligible, a school must either be in an education investment area or have an Ofsted rating of “requires improvement” or “inadequate”.

Eligible schools will be contacted directly by the Department for Education (DfE) and receive funding if they fall below the wifi connectivity standards.
The DfE is releasing a new wave of schools with funding for this programme, with £45m in funding to be completed by March 2026.
